Sidel Unveils EvoDECO®Next for Material Efficiency to Roll-fed Labelling

26 October 2026 – Sidel has introduced EvoDECO® Next, a next-generation roll-fed labelling solution designed to give beverage producers greater flexibility in packaging design while reducing label material consumption.

“EvoDECO Next rethinks what is possible with roll-fed labelling. Producers no longer need to choose between industrial efficiency, material reduction and impactful decoration. By enabling partial labels on a simplified roll-fed architecture, we can help customers use less material, create new brand opportunities and maintain the performance their production lines demand.”

— Anne Philippe Lafon, Product Manager – Labelling, Sidel

The system brings partial labelling to a roll-fed platform, allowing producers to move beyond conventional full wraparound labels. By exposing more of the bottle, the approach also makes the shape of the container, transparent PET and the product itself part of the packaging’s visual identity.

According to Sidel, the use of partial labels can reduce label surface area by up to 75% compared with conventional wraparound labelling, depending on the design selected. A 90° partial-label configuration delivers the maximum reduction, while a 180° configuration reduces label surface area by 50%.

In a production example modelled by Sidel, switching from a full wraparound label to a 90° partial label on a line operating at 61,000 bottles per hour could reduce annual BOPP consumption by 208.4 tonnes, cut associated CO₂ emissions by 346 tonnes and generate approximately €723,000 in annual raw material savings. These figures are based on Sidel’s calculations and will vary according to production conditions and material specifications.

Integrated technology for high-speed production

EvoDECO Next has been developed as an integrated platform combining several technologies, including Cutter 2.0, Smart Buffer, Smart Camera and high-speed changeover components.

The new cutting system is positioned directly on the transfer drum and uses a two-blade rotary mechanism to process shorter labels at high speed. Smart Buffer manages reel changes without variations in production speed, while Smart Camera enables label management without conventional reference marks and quiet zones, offering greater flexibility in label materials and design.

The system also incorporates redesigned changeover components intended to minimise glue contamination and label stress, helping to extend machine autonomy and reduce unplanned production stops. It can also be combined with Sidel’s CoboREEL® automated reel-management solution, which supports traceability and production autonomy of up to 18 reels.

With EvoDECO Next, Sidel extends packaging material optimisation beyond the bottle itself to the label, giving beverage producers another opportunity to reduce material consumption while maintaining production performance and packaging differentiation.
