Oji Group breaks ground on US$110 million aseptic carton plant in Vietnam

Dong Nai, Vietnam, 29 October 2026 – Japan’s OJI Group has broken ground on a US$110 million aseptic carton packaging plant in Dong Nai, Vietnam, establishing a new manufacturing base to serve beverage and liquid food producers in Southeast Asia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The facility, which will operate under the Oji Liquid Pak (OLP) name, is being developed on a 57,000-square-metre site at Long Thanh High-tech Industrial Park. It is designed to produce up to eight billion packs annually and is expected to create more than 200 jobs. Operations are scheduled to commence in 2028.

Establishing a regional production base

The investment reflects OJI Group’s strategy to strengthen its liquid packaging business and expand local production capacity closer to customers in the region.

“Vietnam is an important market and an increasingly strategic manufacturing base within Southeast Asia,” said Terauchi Mikito, Corporate Officer of OJI Holdings Corporation.

Oji Liquid Pak was established in Vietnam in 2025 to develop the Group’s liquid packaging business across the Asia-Pacific region. The new facility will manufacture aseptic carton packaging materials for beverages and liquid food products, serving the domestic market while supporting the Group’s regional supply network.

The project builds on OJI Group’s experience in paper, packaging and forest resource management, together with more than 40 years of aseptic carton packaging technology expertise from Italian company IPI, which joined OJI Holdings in 2023. Oji Liquid Pak and IPI now operate as sister companies within the Group’s integrated aseptic carton packaging business.

Flexible packaging and filling solutions

Beyond packaging material production, Oji Liquid Pak plans to offer customers a flexible supply model. Its aseptic packaging materials are compatible with roll-fed filling machines already available in the market, allowing manufacturers to use existing filling infrastructure.

Customers will be able to source packaging materials separately or opt for an integrated offering combining packaging materials, filling technology and technical services.

Commenting on the changing demands of the packaging industry, Oji Liquid Pak CEO Kestutis Sliuzas said that “performance, food safety, operational flexibility and circularity “need to work together”.

The company’s stated ambition is to support customers with packaging solutions that address current market requirements while remaining adaptable to future needs.

Circularity in aseptic carton packaging

The investment also comes as Vietnam’s packaging sector adapts to its evolving Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework and the broader transition towards a circular economy.

OJI Group said it is working to advance collection and recycling initiatives for aseptic carton packaging in Southeast Asia, drawing on its experience across forest resources, paper, packaging and recycling.

The new plant adds aseptic carton packaging material production to OJI Group’s existing operations in Vietnam, which span forest resources, paper and packaging manufacturing.

Founded in Japan in 1873, OJI Group operates across the paper, packaging and forest resource management industries, with a presence in multiple markets worldwide.
