Thailand's SCG Packaging acquires additional 30% stake in Duy Tan Plastics, taking full ownership of the Vietnamese plastic packaging manufacturer
12 June 2025 -SCG Packaging has acquired an additional 30% stake in Duy Tan Plastics, taking full ownership of the leading rigid plastic packaging manufacturer in Vietnam.
The transaction was finalized in the first week of June through its subsidiary, SCGP Rigid Packaging Solutions (SCGPRPS), at a value of around VND2.8 trillion.
In 2021, SCG spent around VND6.4 trillion acquiring a 70% stake in Duy Tan Plastics. Wichan Jitpukdee, CEO of SCGP, stated that the investment, totaling VND 2,825 billion, raises SCGP’s total shareholding to 100%.
Duy Tan Plastics is a well-established brand in Vietnam’s household plastic and packaging sector, with a broad customer network both domestically and internationally.
Duy Tan JSC operates five manufacturing facilities in Vietnam and offers packaging solutions, innovations, and sustainable packaging to address evolving consumer lifestyles. Its customer base includes B2B clients such as multinational corporations such as Unilever, Nestlé, Castrol, and Sanofi, with its products present in over 60 countries and territories worldwide, as well as B2C clients.
In 2024, Duy Tan recorded revenue of VND 5,381 billion (approximately THB 7,479 million) and a net profit of VND 578 billion (approximately THB 814 million), with total assets of VND 4,627 billion (approximately THB 6,177 million).
This move aligns with SCGP’s strategic focus on expanding its consumer packaging business and penetrating high growth domestic markets within the ASEAN region, especially in Vietnam as a high-potential market due to economic growth and continuous inflow of foreign direct investment,” SCGP said in its release on Tuesday.
“This investment is part of SCGP’s strategic plan to expand and integrate its packaging business across the ASEAN region. The company is focused on fostering business synergies to develop innovative and comprehensive packaging solutions that offer greater variety and integration,” it added.
