Ruey Chang Expands Flexo Capacity with New UTECO Press and Automated Platemaking
9 October – Taiwan-based flexible packaging producer Ruey Chang Printing & Packing Co., Ltd. has completed the installation of a new UTECO flexographic printing press and commissioned an automated CrystalCleanConnect (CCC4260) platemaking system from Asahi Photoproducts in December 2025.
The CCC4260 replaces the company’s previous AWP™ 4835P plate processor, with the investment aimed at improving automation, productivity and operational efficiency.
Ruey Chang currently produces all its print jobs using UV-based Extended Colour Gamut (ECG) printing on a BOBST M6 press. The new UTECO line is intended to provide a platform for future ECG applications using water-based inks.
The company also plans to progressively introduce Asahi’s AWP™-CLFQ flat-top plates, initially validating them within its existing UV ECG workflow. According to Asahi, the plates are expected to support more consistent print results, including solid ink density and white opacity, particularly when used with Quartz screening.
ECG printing reduces reliance on spot colours, potentially shortening setup times, reducing ink changeovers and minimising ink waste in flexible packaging production.
