Novatex Adds 24,000-Tonne Food-Grade rPET Capacity in Pakistan
1 Sep 2026 – Pakistan PET producer Novatex has expanded into bottle-to-bottle recycling, adding more than 24,000 tonnes a year of food-grade recycled PET (rPET) capacity at its facility near Lahore.
The new Starlinger recycling system was commissioned in November 2025 and can process up to 3,000 kg of PET per hour. It uses predominantly post-consumer PET bottles collected through municipal kerbside collection in Pakistan.
Novatex says the resulting rPET will be used in its own PET preform production or sold to local and international markets. The company also aims to support beverage customers, including PepsiCo and Coca-Cola, in meeting their circularity targets.
The investment comes as Pakistan’s packaging industry works with government and other stakeholders to develop a national Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework for packaging waste.
